**WIN** MAKUTU'S ISLAND BIRTHDAY PARTY REVIEW!!!!!

November 15, 2015
So I am one of those moms who goes overboard with every birthday party. You know the ones who have a theme, make the food to match, and sweat and stress over it all. All the food made from scratch, as well as the cupcakes or 5 tiered cake. Then when the party is done and they are full on exhausted, they come to realize that the kids never even appreciated it. Only the other mom's noticed that the food, decorations, and even the family pet was coordinated to the theme of the year, all compliments of Pinterest. The kids were much happier creating with the dollar store craft items, and spreading glitter and glue from one end of the house to the other. They licked a tiny bit of icing off that cake you spent 8 hours baking and creating, and took a few bites out of your homemade finger food. Instead they gobbled up the store bought Cheetos, drank the fruit punch, and then smeared their cheezie sticky fingers over every surface of your house. So there you sit on the couch, after everyone has left, barely able to keep your eyes open, wondering why you did this yet again!

Well this year when it came time to plan the twins birthday party, I had a great offer from Makutus' Island Chandler to host it there. I decided what better place for 5 year old twins to have their party, than a massive indoor playground. My twins love Makutu's Island and beg me to take them there all the time. During the summer they knew almost every employee by name. So I booked a 20 kid birthday party, and for the next 2 months listened to the daily inquiries into when their party was.

I have to say it was the oddest feeling ever. I was sitting on the couch, two days before there party, and suddenly panic struck. The party was two days away and I had literally done nothing. Now, you need to know that I had been sick for two weeks. Like full on, think you are dying sick. The kids had lovingly shared their germs when we went on vacation to San Diego, and I came home sick. They quickly recovered as kids generally do, and I was left with the plague for over two weeks. So there I was, on the couch, drugged up on Nyquil, and panicking that I had so much to accomplish in two days while dying from the plague. Of course I still had to keeping the household running, and do all the other mommy duties too. So I grabbed a notebook and decided I would make one of my infamous lists. They are infamous because every time I go to make a list, my husband laughs at me. Well I have to say this, he never complains when we head out on a road trip or camping, and I have every gadget he thinks no one could have possibly remembered.

Well I sat there for about 10 minutes, in my foggy Nyquil haze, and I literally had two things on my list. I needed to pick up the balloons and cupcakes. Say what? How could this even be possible? So I sat there and thought long and hard for another ten minutes, nope nothing. Wow, could this be for real? All I had to do, other than load the kids in the car, and remember my camera, was pick up some balloons and grab the cupcakes from Gigi's Cupcakes Chandler. This could not get much easier!

Now, I have to say, that handing over the reigns and having someone else make my cake or cupcakes, was a bit out of my comfort zone. I love to bake, and even though making a masterpiece, while conquering all the other party duties can be overwhelming, I still inflict it upon myself year after year. And each year, when they ask for another tier on the cake, or some crazy cupcake concoction, I gladly accept the challenge and then smack myself the day of the party. So this year I turned the reigns over to Gigi's Cupcakes Chandler, and we were rewarded with some tasty treats. The best part of this I have to say, was that I didn't take it personally when the kids merely licked the frosting and then abandoned the sweet treat. I hadn't had to literally put hours of blood, sweat, and tears into these cupcakes!

So between Makutu's Island and Gigi's cupcakes, the party was a breeze! When we got to Makutu's Island, the friendly staff checked all the kiddos in. They put matching bracelets on us all, to ensure no kiddos left with the wrong parents. I tell you, no one would take my kids and not return them within 10 minutes, if they even lasted that long. Our party hostesses gathered up the presents and shoes, put them on a cart, scooped the cupcakes out of my hands, and off they went. There I stood with no worries, wow this was starting out like my kind of party. The kids ran off to play for an hour and fifteen minutes, and I actually got to sit and catch up with my friends. I didn't have to run around like a mad woman, worrying that things weren't perfect! After an hour and fifteen minutes of play, our amazing hostesses gathered up all the children, and off they skipped to the party room. Once we were in the room, I literally did nothing! They had all the food ready, they took the kids' pizza orders, doled out the drinks, and cleaned up the messes. I sat at the adult table with my friends, and enjoyed a meal in peace. The hostesses were quick to dole out seconds and refill drinks, and as the kids finished their lunch, they played games with them. When it was time for the tasty cupcakes, they were on their A game again. Ready with a bbq lighter in hand, and all set to lead the chorus.

Well a party wouldn't be complete without a visit from the Makutu's Island mascots, and they were more than happy to pop in and visit our birthday crew. The kids loved meeting Makutu, Kiki, and the newest addition Oscar. The amazing mascots, even made funny faces along with the kids for pictures!!! When we were done in the party room, the staff loaded up all the presents, packaged up all the leftovers, and the kids headed off to play for as long as they wanted. And the best part of the whole entire party was......okay this is the point where I should say "that my kids had an amazing time for their birthday" right? NOOOOOOO The best part of the whole entire party was.....THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO CLEAN UP THE MESS!!! Yes you heard that right, no work for the party, they entertained the kids, they made the food, they cleaned up the mess, and a young fella even loaded up the gifts into my car!!! ENOUGH SAID......

So if you want a hassle free, no fuss no muss, birthday party at Makutu's Island Chandler, then tell them Macaroni Kid Chandler sent you and they will gladly give you $10 off!!! The kids will have an amazing time and you will get to go home to a house that is free of sparkles, glue, and sticky handprints! Okay well maybe that is wishful thinking, but you won't feel like you just completed a marathon when you it's over!!
