Alamo Drafthouse Cinema...a Whole New Movie Theater Experience!

By *sponsored advertising content March 4, 2017

I am so thrilled to announce the addition of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Chandler, to the family of businesses that I work with. Now I want to be honest here, it's mainly for purely selfish reasons, I am in love with this whole new theater experience.

Now let me make myself clear, I have never been a big fan of going to the traditional movie theater for so many reasons, let me touch on just a few. I hate the seats in your typical movie theater, they are so uncomfortable, so close together and cramped, and here is the biggest reason I hate them, drumroll please...........they are cloth! People spill, kids put their sticky fingers all over them and come on people this is Arizona and that means heat and heat means sweat and enough said!

Another reason I hate them is that you can get a babysitter for the kids, drive to the theater, get inside and there are only crummy seats left. At this point I would rather leave than sit crammed against some sweaty stranger who may or may not smell bed, on what is suppose to be a date night out. But my husband always refuses to leave and there I am left to snuggle with Bubba, ya not what I had in mind!

When I want to kick back and watch a good movie, I want to be comfortable, I don't want to snuggle a stranger, I want good snacks, I want to wear my pajamas, I want to actually enjoy the movie and not be disrupted by my neighbors and their cell phones and idle chatter. Well alas, there is a movie theater that eliminates all of those negatives, hmmmm I wonder if I would get funny looks wearing my pajamas......people do it in Walmart!

So a couple weeks back I got invited to bring the kids and go to a family event at Alamo, I was so excited to check it out. We were going to the Lego Movie cereal party, hey come on how could that not be a good time. Of course my kids were excited, the Lego Batman movie and an endless supply of sweet cereals. Now my concern of course was lots of small children, sticky cereal, and cloth seats...they would not dare to have milk would they?

We arrived a bit early at the theater to check it out and take some pictures, wow it's like no other theater I have ever been to. It is much smaller and more intimate, they have leather seats, yes you heard me right, no more nasty gross dirty cloth seats. And no I am not a germophobe, how can everyone not think those exact things as they plonk their bottoms down in those nasty seats for two hours. Not only do they have beautiful leather chairs, but there is so much room, oodles and oodles of body and leg room, and a small table in between every two tables. And don't forget the chairs are made of leather, leather than can easily be wiped down, the same reason I have it at home with four gross children. Yep I just called my children gross, don't get me wrong I love them to pieces but lets be clear, most children are kinda gross!

So we were settled into our reserved seats, yes you get to chose your seats, and can therefore aim to separate yourself as far as possible from others. Combined with the roomy seats, this eliminates you having to snuggle with some random stranger for two hours. You also are not disturbed by someone constantly bumping by you to go buy snacks, you have menus right at your seat, and they will even refill your popcorn and soda!

Now I can imagine you are worrying about all the talking that takes place with people ordering food and refills, nope none, you heard me right, no talking. There are slips of paper that you write your order on, you then put them into a little ledge, and your server comes by and grabs the paper. Voila, no talking, and they are off to grant your wishes, okay not quite but you get my point. This no talking policy also translates to those movie goers who would rather talk than watch the movie, or even better yet, those who can't put down their cell phone down for five minutes. At Alamo you get one warning and then you are asked to leave! No more spending decent money to enjoy a movie, to have wrecked by the group of teens behind you. Okay who are we kidding, there are adults who are just as guilty.

If you have not had the opportunity to go check Alamo out then you really must, it is like no other theater I have frequented and I am a theater skeptic! Oh and just to let you know, yes they did have milk at the cereal party! Not just white milk but chocolate milk also. Bowls and bowls of sweet cereal with milk and chocolate milk being spilt all over at least every other occupied seat. And yes two out of three of my children did that exact thing, huge messes all over those beautiful new chairs! But you know what I didn't worry one bit, no mom guilt like usual. Because those smiley face, super friendly theater workers came along and wiped that nasty sticky sweet milky mess right off those leather chairs!

Ohhh and don't let me forget the restroom, it's like something out of a Hollywood movie, I wanted to just hide in there for a few hours. Kick back on the leather couch and pretend I was a movie star. But nope back to reality, with four children in tow, I knew someone would come looking for me at sooner rather than later!

I want to let one of you experience those super comfy, non-sticky, chairs for yourself. So I am giving one lucky subscriber 2 admission passes and a $10 food voucher! Make sure to follow the link and enter HERE.
